WIOA Funding Preserved for Adult and Youth Training in House-Passed Minibus; Heads to Senate Next Week

Updated: 2 days ago

A recent review of the FY 2026 Labor-HHS appropriations bill confirms that Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) funding for Adult, Youth, and Dislocated Worker training programs will be maintained. This clarification addresses previous concerns about potential reductions or restructuring of federal workforce funding that could have limited access to training resources.

For CVTA member schools, WIOA remains a stable funding source for commercial driver training. Adult and Youth training activities will continue as separate, dedicated programs, enabling local workforce boards to support CDL training for both adults changing careers and younger workforce entrants.

Continuing WIOA funding provides certainty for schools that rely on workforce dollars to expand access to training, serve students with limited resources, and meet regional workforce needs. CVTA will continue to engage with policymakers and workforce agencies to ensure these funds remain accessible for high-quality, compliant commercial driver training programs. The legislation will require the support of 60 Senators to advance and pass into law.
