The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) has removed almost 3,000 training providers from the Training Provider Registry (TPR) for failing to complete the required biennial self-certification. Removing inactive or unresponsive listings improves the Registry’s accuracy and utility.
While these enforcement actions do not yet indicate a full-scale auditing process on the granular substance of training providers' compliance with training activities, it reduces an already inflated dataset to assist FMCSA in tackling the challenge. This provides FMCSA and state partners with a clearer view of the training landscape and helps focus on different types of noncompliant providers.
FMCSA took the following steps during the removal process:
• Identifying providers that had not completed the mandatory biennial update
• Sending outreach communications and reminders to those entities
• Removing providers that did not respond or confirm active status
• Updating the Registry to reflect those currently responsive to the administrative requirements
