Recently, ten Oregon high school graduates earned their Class A commercial driver’s licenses through a new partnership between CVTA member Elite Truck School and local education partners, preparing these new graduates to enter the workforce with valuable skills and new career opportunities.
Through the Youth CDL Pilot Program, students completed classroom instruction before beginning hands-on training at Elite Truck School’s Hillsboro campus. They practiced vehicle inspections, backing maneuvers, and driving on public roads in preparation for their CDL skills tests.
All ten students successfully earned their Class A CDLs, and several received job offers before the program concluded. The pilot demonstrates how professional training providers and local education partners can work together to introduce young people to high-demand careers and strengthen the future workforce.
CVTA congratulates Elite Truck School, its partners, and the program’s first graduating class. Read about their accomplishment here: Washington County High School Graduates Trade Textbooks for Trucks
