"The Commercial Vehicle Training Association (CVTA) applauds FMCSA’s decision to begin issuing notices to training providers indicating the agency will launch random, in-person, “boots-on-the-ground” audits starting December 8th. CVTA understands that more than 1,500 providers will be subject to review, with hundreds of FMCSA inspectors tasked with conducting these long-overdue compliance checks. As the leading national voice calling for meaningful enforcement of Entry-Level Driver Training (ELDT) standards, CVTA welcomes this scrutiny as an essential step toward rooting out CDL mills and protecting the integrity of the profession. Thorough oversight will provide consumer protection to CDL students, prevent fraudulent use of state and federal workforce funds, and increase safety on the nation's roadways. Legitimate schools have nothing to fear from enforcement. CDL mills have everything to fear — and that’s exactly how it should be."
