Recent Spectrum News 13 coverage featuring CVTA member Roadmaster Drivers School examined the trucking industry’s need for qualified drivers as federal officials increase oversight of CDL training providers.

At Roadmaster’s Apopka, Florida, campus, CDL instructor Tony Nunn demonstrated how students learn the precision and judgment required to safely operate a commercial vehicle. Nunn emphasized that students must understand the rules of the road, demonstrate their driving skills, and meet federal requirements before entering the workforce.

Roadmaster was not among the schools ordered to close as part of the recent federal enforcement actions. Roadmaster President Brad Ball told Spectrum News that the school supports efforts to strengthen training standards and remove unsafe practices from the industry.

“We welcome that enforcement to improve the quality of the drivers on the road,” Ball said.

The coverage highlights the important role reputable training providers play in preparing safe, qualified drivers while helping the trucking industry meet its long-term workforce needs. Strong and consistent oversight allows schools committed to quality training to stand out while giving students and employers greater confidence in the CDL training process.
