On June 5, 2025, CVTA Executive Director Andrew Poliakoff joined Dave Nemo and Jimmy Mac, hosts of RadioNemo, for the first hour of their new radio show in partnership with Fastport. It was a timely conversation about the evolving landscape of commercial driver training. Representing the nation’s largest association of professional truck driving schools, Poliakoff used the platform to reacquaint RadioNemo’s audience with CVTA’s work—and to highlight the urgent issues shaping the future of the industry.
RadioNemo recently launched its new broadcast platforms from the historic Degas House in New Orleans, featuring industry leaders and longtime host Dave Nemo, who continues to innovate after 55 years in the trucking radio industry. Fastport, Inc. proudly sponsors the new studio, with all shows now streaming free on iHeartRadio, YouTube, Facebook Live, and more.
A central theme of the discussion was the federal government’s enforcement of Entry-Level Driver Training (ELDT) regulations. CVTA emphasized the urgent need for the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) to hold non-compliant training providers accountable. He noted that consistent and fair enforcement of existing laws is critical to protecting students, supporting reputable schools, and ensuring the long-term credibility of the CDL process.
“The rules are in place. Now we just have to enforce them.” Poliakoff said.
He also discussed the leadership role of CVTA’s Task Force in seeking meaningful reforms and pushing for safety, quality, and accountability. Without stronger oversight, he warned, unethical operators will continue to threaten both student outcomes and public confidence.
He also offered a preview of the CVTA’s upcoming 2025 Fall Conference, taking place September 24–26 in Phoenix, Arizona. The annual event brings together training providers, safety professionals, motor carriers, and policymakers to tackle the most pressing workforce and regulatory challenges in the industry.
Throughout the segment, Poliakoff emphasized CVTA’s unwavering commitment to raising the bar for driver training, advocating for students, and collaborating with policymakers to build a safer and more resilient trucking workforce. His appearance on RadioNemo offered a clear message to listeners across the country: CVTA is not only leading the conversation—it’s driving change.
