The Commercial Vehicle Training Association sincerely thanks the members who traveled to Washington, D.C. this week for the 2026 Advocacy Day. Your time, engagement, and commitment to advocating for the commercial driver training community made this effort meaningful and impactful.
Throughout the week, CVTA members met with congressional offices to address key issues in commercial driver training: strengthening CDL standards, increasing federal enforcement awareness, and expanding access to workforce training. These priorities are essential for safety and workforce development.
Advocacy Day provides a vital platform for training providers to share real-world insights. Members demonstrated how high-quality training prepares safe, job-ready drivers by grounding discussions in the practical experiences of schools and carriers nationwide.
This year's participation reflected broad industry alignment. CVTA members, partners, and stakeholders, including carriers and training organizations, engaged in coordinated discussions on Capitol Hill, demonstrating a shared commitment to advancing training quality and safety. Meeting with offices from both parties reinforced that these issues transcend political boundaries.
The week concluded with a CVTA Board of Directors meeting, where leadership reviewed progress and emphasized the importance of ongoing engagement. Advocacy Day remains essential for ensuring the training community maintains a visible, credible presence in federal policymaking. Continued engagement with federal stakeholders, including the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, is central to advancing consistent oversight and accountability. Advocacy Day empowers members to shape policy directly and ensures decisions reflect the expertise of those who understand training best.
As federal policy discussions continue, the training community’s voice remains essential. CVTA members have once again demonstrated their dedication to leading this work.
