CVTA Executive Director Andrew Poliakoff was recently featured in an ABC News Wisconsin segment examining the removal of non-compliant CDL training providers. The report highlighted how individuals unfamiliar with trucking can be misled by deceptive organizations and the risks that arise when training does not meet federal standards.
This news segment and others around the country and nationally are driving greater understanding of the need to remove CDL mills and building awareness of CVTA as the national voice for high quality truck driver training.

Along with many other states, training providers in Wisconsin have received notices of proposed removal from the federal Training Provider Registry, and four have already been taken off the list. In one instance, a company told reporters it had never operated a CDL training program and did not know why it was included — a question the outlet raised with USDOT.
The segment also featured perspectives from industry stakeholders and veteran drivers who have seen the real-world impacts of inadequate training. Poliakoff noted that ELDT is based on demonstrated proficiency, not hours alone, and that instructors must affirm a student’s readiness before certification.
