CVTA Members Take Top Three Prizes at Transition Trucking Event

ree

CVTA proudly congratulates three member-affiliated drivers who swept the top honors at the prestigious Transition Trucking: Driving for Excellence awards, an annual program recognizing America’s top military veteran drivers.

Charles Jones, Jr., a U.S. Army veteran and driver with Roehl Transport, earned first place overall, receiving national recognition at a ceremony in Washington, D.C., presented by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation’s Hiring Our Heroes program, along with Kenworth and FASTPORT. Jones, who attended Georgia Driving Academy before joining Roehl, now takes possession of a new Kenworth T-680 truck as he advances his career as a small business owner.

Second and third place went to Macy Mattice and Mark Scriven.

Macy Mattice, a U.S. Army veteran served as an 88M specializing in heavy equipment transportation and is now a flatbed driver with Melton Truck Lines.

Mark Scriven, a former U.S. Army Staff Sergeant and Combat Lifesaver, who now serves as a professional driver and trainer with Stevens Transport, bringing military discipline and leadership into the classroom and cab.

Together, these three winners underscore the strength of CVTA member programs in supporting veterans’ successful transitions into safe, professional trucking careers—and highlight the vital role quality training plays in building the industry’s future workforce.
