CVTA Featured on ABC News in Orlando, Florida

CVTA Executive Director Andrew Poliakoff was recently featured in an ABC News Orlando segment examining the U.S. Department of Transportation’s findings that nearly half of the nation’s truck driver training schools are not following federal requirements. The report raised concerns about the readiness of the estimated 3.5 million commercial drivers on America’s roads and the risks that arise when training does not meet Entry-Level Driver Training (ELDT) standards.

This segment, along with similar coverage nationwide, is increasing awareness of the need to eliminate CDL mills and reinforcing CVTA’s role as the national voice for high-quality truck driver training.

According to USDOT’s findings, thousands of schools either are not training drivers to federal standards or do not have required documentation on file. As a result, as many as 3,000 training providers could lose accreditation in the next 30 days. Florida, like many other states, is now under heightened enforcement as the federal government evaluates provider compliance nationwide.

Poliakoff emphasized that ELDT is built on demonstrated proficiency, not hours alone, and that instructors must affirm a student’s readiness before certification. Watch here:https://tinyurl.com/57dywsrw
